Privacy Policy

StorySpace.Org has established this privacy policy to explain to you how your information is protected, collected and used. It may be updated by StorySpace.Org from time to time. StorySpace.Org will provide notice of materially significant changes to this privacy policy by posting such notice on the StorySpace.Org site itself.

(Please note that we have not yet had an online Forum, and have no plans to institute one. The only "posts" we have that are not by our Staff, are the ones submitted by our featured Tellers. These descriptive "blurbs" are edited for length, but not necessarily for content or accuracy.)

1. Protecting your privacy:

We do not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

We don't engage in cross-marketing or link-referral programs with other sites.

We do not employ tracking devices for marketing purposes ("cookies", "web beacons," or single-pixel gifs).

We don't send you unsolicited communications for marketing purposes.

Account information is password-protected. Please keep your password safe.

StorySpace.Org does not knowingly collect any information from persons under the age of 13.  If StorySpace.Org learns that a posting is by a person under the age of 13, StorySpace.Org will remove that post.

StorySpace.Org, or people who post on StorySpace.Org, may provide links to Third Party websites, which may have different privacy practices. We are not responsible for, nor have any control over, the privacy policies of those Third Party websites, and strongly encourage all users to read the privacy policies of each and every website they patronize.

2. Data we collect:

We do collect your email address, primarily for creating and authenticating user accounts, and registering for forums. Your email address may also be used for purposes such as sending self-publishing and confirmation emails, and providing subscription email services, etc.

Our web logs collect standard web log entries for each page served, including your IP address, page URL, and timestamp. Web logs help us to diagnose problems with our server, to administer the StorySpace.Org site, and to otherwise provide our service to you.

3. Data we store:

All forum postings are stored in our database, even after their expiration or "deletion," and may be archived elsewhere.

Our web logs and other records may be stored indefinitely.

Although we make good faith efforts to store the information in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee complete security.

4. Archiving and display of StorySpace.Org postings by Search Engines and other Sites:

Search engines and other sites not affiliated with StorySpace.Org - including, but not limited to, Bing, Google, and Yahoo - may indefinitely display, archive, or otherwise make available material posted on StorySpace.Org

5. Circumstances in which StorySpace.Org may release information:

StorySpace.Org may disclose information about its users, if required to do so by law, or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary, to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process.

StorySpace.Org may also disclose information about its users to law enforcement officers or others, in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary, to: respond to claims that any posting or other content violates the rights of third-parties; or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of StorySpace.Org, its users, or the general public.
